My service manual shows a orange wire as power, meter it out to verfy and check to see if you have power. I realize I'm using an 02 as a guide, but there shouldn't be much different.
Thanks, this 12 pin plug is what I referred to above I believe. Gonna have to tear stuff down. Cleaned the fuse already, didn't change.

So last night I tore some things apart using the service manual i got (thanks to 8541hog), and it determined that there was not power getting to the guages, so I need to take some things apart and try to find where the wire is losing power or the ground is bad.

This is the last thing I wanted, the most tedious thing, but hey, that is Murphy's Law right?

So I just took apart the front end and pulled out the connector for the guages.

It looks like one of the pins corroded so bad it broke off inside the connecter. This probably explains the issue.

Does anyone know where the cheapest place to get this connector?

Thanks,

Good to hear you found the cause to your problem!

Try this search query in Google:

Deutsch DTM Series 12-Way Connectors and Accessories

and you'll find several internet shops.

Mud has some good write-ups on how to dissemble these connectors. Try this summary and scroll down to "wiring" to find the links: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/4016845-post3.html

i have no idea how to do that, nor did I know that was a possibility. I will look into it though, sounds like the best / cheapest / easiest solution.

HELLOooo Darkcvc,

I'm thinking those orange parts may be locking clips. A lot of the Deutch brand connectors that HD uses have them. It's really hard to tell without someone looking at them that has delt with them before or, a HD shop manual for your Year/Make/Model. If they are, you should be able to pry them out (Gently). this would allow the plug to be depinned. WARNING!! I would not recommend this without a manual and, a basic knowledge on electrical.
As for the problem..... take a close look at your common (Chassis) grounds. Maybe take a lightweight Stainless steel brush and/or some electical contact cleener to them.

Best wishes... Tim

What ever course you are going to take , prior to connection apply some sort of corrosion/water barrier treatment in the plug. The deutsch plugs we use at work look different than that but they are pretty water tight, used in our boat harnesses.

I know JP Cycles sells all those connectors. There is also a store in Columbia, SC called Cables and Connectors. They have a website and you should be able to order what you need.

http://cablesandconnectors.com/

They are very reasonable with their prices last I checked.
