Default No Dyna Choppers?

I'm curious. How come its so rare to find pictures or any information for that matter on chopped dynas? I know there is a guy on this forum who has chopped his..well is in the middle of chopping his...but really you cant find much more than that. And his bike looks good so far but its still not what I'm referring to. I'm talking rigid rear ends plus raked and stretched front ends. Are the garage chopper days a thing of the past??

I wouldn't ride a bike that didn't handle well with all of the distracted drivers on the road now days, choppers don't do that too good, I had one I know.

I think a lot of guys buy the dyna because of its handling characteristics, and raking it out would be counterproductive to some of us... for me anyway.

Yeah, I get yalls point for sure. I just wonder if as they say the chopper days are over. Other than buying choppers pre built, which to me arent chopper at all they are custom motorcycles. I just find it rare to run across anyone who actually chops what they got. Have we all moved on to a new standard of cool? I'm not saying I dont like dyna's as is.. Thats not the case. Hell I even dig club/thug dynas. It just seems to me the biker culture has changed quite a bit in the past few years. Maybe it is the handling factor. With all the over populated cities(like Tampa) it is better to have a better handling bike.

actually i think the biggest reason is the rubber mount motor - ive seen very few pulled off proper - then add on top of that what the bys above said - the whole reason to get a dyna is contrary to cruisin a chop - you wanna do smokey burnouts and wheelies with a dyna, dont ya!

Yea I have heard that about the rubber mounted engine but I dont see how it would be THAT big of a problem to get around. But hey, I'm not a cutsom builder. Just a dreamer. lol

And as far as burnouts go....yes....and my scoot can lay down some rubber. But tires are too damn expensive. lol

there are a lot of guys cutting and chopping up there dynas . I see a lot of people doing that . Not with a rigid frame as much as keeping the swing arm for handling/comfort and cutting up the rear struts , sheet metal , putting FLH and springer front ends on etc. Mods are still crazy cool. But I think people are getting older or are wanting better handling from there bikes. Im not saying choppers don't handle well. I have seen some that handle great . I think the consensus is : I have a suspension , I might as well use it. I think the mods may be headed in a different direction for many but the genius of what is being done in garages by every day riders is still going strong. I LOVE chopped bikes but I need a suspension now. Broke my back when i was young. If I rode rigid I wouldn't ride at all.
