Security system light
My local HD service department begins their diagnosis of problems with "you might be out of gas" and "did you get it wet?" I'm not kiddin!!
So I'll ask here: I have a 2009 FXD. I don't have a security system. In hot weather, when I'm stuck in traffic and crawling along, the security system light comes on (the little red light in the shape of a key). It doesn't flash on and of. When I start moving again, it goes off. No change in how the bike runs.
I've ruled out being out of gas or getting it wet, so I'm thinking the component housing that turns this little guy on...or somewhere in the wiring...something is getting overheated.

This is kind of a general answer, but may be a good place to start:
The little "red key" might indicate that there's a trouble code in the system. Try running a diagnostic (press/hold trip reset button, turn ign switch to "On" and cycle through the different modules) and see if there are any DTCs present. If a DTC is displayed, look up the code to determine the source of the trouble. Hope that helps a little.
