Air Idle Sensor
I think youre exaggerating a little, but having the IAC hang high is a lot of fun when youre stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. If it happens again, and it will (even with a new one), bring the bike to a complete stop for a couple of seconds and the computer will recalibrate it. Then when you get home, pull the air filter and shoot some carb cleaner up the port in the top of the throttle body. That will clean the gunk out of it that caused the problem.
Note: if the IAC hangs high too many times, it will strip the threads out of the plunger and leave it permanently stuck in the closed position. Then the bike wont idle at all. Keep the IAC clean and it will last a long, long time.
