I bit the bullet and bought the Mustang solo seat. I've been riding my '09 Street Bob for a few months now, and even had some longer rides all with the stock seat. The Mustang made a HUGE difference. I rode from Baltimore to Ocean City MD (3 hour non-stop). At the end of 2 hours, my back and backside was done. I bought the Mustang saddle from a custom shop in OC and rode it back yesterday. A world of difference, no lower back or backside fatigue.
I have heard that over time, the gel in the gel seats breaks down and pretty much liquefies.

wow, i kinda thought the gel seats had to be pretty good stuff or the companies wouldn't be offering it for so much more than the regular seats. i'm sure it works for some, but it looks like most people just see gel as a high priced gimick.
