I bought a used thunderheader a couple of weeks ago. It was wrapped but when I removed all of it there didn't seem to be any paint on it, or what was left of the paint was just a bunch of flakey gray stuff. I went to sandblast it and then I sprayed it with some Rust-Oleum high heat paint. Ran into a little problem while installing the mounting bracket though. I didn't feel like removing the clutch cover for one screw, so I cut out a little notch and was able to slide it on. I also got a set of brand new heat shields on ebay for about half the price including shipping. Overall the install was pretty easy, did it by myself in a few hours. The longest part was getting the clamp to close enough so I could get the nut started on the bolt.
Thanks guys. I had been looking for one for a while and ended up buying it from someone on another forum. Wasn't in the best shape when I first got it, but it turned out pretty good in the end.
As for the sound, nice and deep just like I expected, and loud as hell when you twist the throttle. I have a couple of other things to do and then I'll most probably get it tuned.
