they try to make you feel that so they can get paid again cuase they know , if its not a warranty most of us dont come back.. if it was required it should be included.. go buy more stuff ,
Hey there FBinSoCal. Jamman is dead nuts on this one. Doing your own work will not void any warranty. It is of course in the stealerships best interest to convince you that they need to do it, but that is simply not a fact. The Magnuson act he posted is in place specifically to combat unscrupulous dealers. Now, in all fairness to the MOCO, laws are just laws. The dealer doesn't HAVE to do anything and can deny any claim they wish for whatever reason they wish. The Magnuson-Moss act is in place as a remedy if they choose to deny a valid warranty claim, not to force any one dealer to do any one specific act. But as mentioned, if you buy the correct parts, keep the receipts and do your own work, the dealer "can't" deny a warranty claim under the guise that the warranty is no longer valid because they didn't do the 1000 miles service.
Great response and thank you for responding to my request. I'm going to now intelligently roll the dice and do the work either myself or take it to my reputable after market connection and save some $$$. I'm considering my due diligence as "done" hehe...If it wasn't for this forum i would not be doing this. Jamman, Bikerlaw, thank you both. I'm pretty much thinking it's gonna be either handlebar or new seat time in my near future. This is great news.
Ok, i hit 1k miles this weekend but I need to know what all is performed for $350 dollars on the service. Can someone please clue me in because that seems like one hell of a oil change.
Do they check the front fork oil?
Appreciate any posts.
Go look at your forks, there's a dipstick on top of each one so you can check yourself.

Got a quote from Wheel works in Garden Grove, Ca. to do the 1k service including the front fork oil, change out all fluids and check it all out...$160. He said they normally charge $200-220 but these are same guys who did my first round of mods so they discounted.
Far cry from $350 from HD. Thanks to this forum and all those who posted on the topic, I have saved almost $200.
Many thanks to everyone, especially Jamman, Bikerlaw, Perryross, and Mrnone.
