Default Help Help!!!

Ok so i let a family member ride the Bob today, and at the bottom of the drive way they dropped it on its right hand side. I have deactivated the engine and the like according to the owners manual, but there is a problem. When i put the ignition on in the start postion, the bike will start automaticly without pushing the start button. and when it does start it has this whining sound coming from it every so often. A quick check of the bike has found that the brake res and handle for the front has been pushed in and the bolt is now hitting the bend in the bars. The bike is the 07 model with the 96ci engine, it has only done 110klms. one of the theroies i have is that maybe when the hand controls have hit the ground and pushed in, they have some how jamed the start button on, this would explain why the bike turns over automaticly and the sound when running could be the starter motor. any help would be great!!![X(]

We can all learn a lesson here...NEVER let anybody touch your bike except YOU.

Having said that...sorry to hear about your dilemma.

I say you have an electrical problem inside the right side switch housing according to your description. You either need to take it to the dealer or if you're comfortable doing your own work you need to open up the switch housing and diagnose/find/correct the issue. It's possible that a couple of the wires have crossed and are therfore arching each other. Barring any physical broken components the problem should be relatively easy to take care of.

Oh, and one more thing...NEVER let anybody touch your bike!!!!!

The wires in the control housing may have also been pinched causing a short. Or as you said, the starter button mechanically could be messed up.

I'd disassemble the controls, check the wires and put a meter on the switches to see if they are working correctly. But unless you feel good about troubleshooting electrical stuff, you're probably best to take it to the dealer.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad luck. Any other damage?

The Bob - sorry to hear that!!

I let my boss ride mine once, and he has an open offer to ride it if I bring it to work. Only because is an experienced rider with an 03 RKC with lots of bling and if something happened to mine he could cover it no problem.

That being said - no one else can touch it. Not a fan of having to fix stuff other people wrecked. Heck, not a fan of having to fix stuff I've wrecked. My brother wanted to ride it when I got it. I asked where his bike was. He said "You know I don't have one" - the answer was a resounding NO.

I have a buddy with a 05 sz marauder 1600. Nice bike - he didn't want to ride mine because he didn't want to see what he was missing and I didn't want to ride his because I didn't need to. I have what I want.

My boss has offered to let me ride his RK, one of my drivers asked if I wanted to take their Springer for a short run (tempting I admit) but i had to decline for the same reasons as I don't really *want* them riding mine.

Hopefully you can get away with the addons you want to replace the damaged parts. It could work out to be a good thing!

Your wife, your gun, and your bike, NEVER let your friends touch any of them!

I feel your pain about alittle over a year ago I bought a Suzuki M109, first day I had it my friend dumped it coming out of my driveway (14 miles on the odo). Needless to say I learned my lesson!

Check with the dealer, or I actually went to just a body shop and they were able to fix me up perfect!
