dyna seat question

I have a 1999 fxdx and I'd like to put one of the newer retro style dyna seats on it (the ones similar to the sportster ones biltwell sells) but those are for 2006 and up. I cant find anyone who sells one thats similar so my question is - Whats the difference between the older dyna seats and the newer ones? thanks in advance.

there was a frame change somehwhere around 05-06 if i recall correctly. Somemone i work with gave me a barebones seat to try off of his wifes 06 dyna and it wasnt even close to fitting on my 05.

if i remember right 99 to 04 was one frame them 05-06 was another then 07 to now is another i put a sundowner seat from a 06 on my 08 and it was about 3 inches shorter had to take it back and get the right one
