Default Is this normal?

The gear shift arm on my 08 Dyna, is this normal? Arm has about 1 cm lateral play. Recently 1-2 shift is a bit inconsistent and sometimes feels clunky.Trying to rule this out.

I can't see you video at work, so I can't tell for sure, but...

Sounds like you may be missing the rubber spacer between the shift arm and the outer primary. if so, it's no biggie. They are only a few buck at the HD dealer and can be installed in a couple of minutes...

yeah unfortunately it is normal. Mine has done it from day one. (movement of shift arm). As far as the gear shifting difficulty I have not had that issue yet.

If it has a lot of miles on it , it may be a worn out primary chain. You can take off the inspection cover and stick you finger in the hole and push up and down on the chain. If it feel sloppy it may be time to change it. If your mechanical minded at all you can do it yourself.

As said, you may have some clutch issues, maybe adjustment or needs replacing. Try shifting rapidity at full throttle, if you hear it slipping look to the clutch plates.

I don't think there would be an inspection cover... it has an auto adjusting primary chain.

The wiggle is normal, the gear trouble is not.

What type of primary fluid are you using?
How many miles are on that fluid?
Who many miles are on the bike?

Normal. You'll notice in your video that the motion is lateral and doesn't cause the link arm to move front to back.
