I have the Deluxe Pullback Riser and Clamp Kit
part number 56290-05
which is a solid top clamp but the bottom risers are two seperate pieces.

That's fine. The solid top clamp ties the two sides together, effectivley making it one unit. When you have separate rubber mounted risers with separate top clamps, you get a twisting force (caused by your body weight shifting when you hit bumps) directly on the area of the bars where the wiring hole exits. This is one of the main reasons why there was a recall on the Wideglide handlebars.

Good to know. Thanks for the info. I will be drilling my bars probable this week. I have added the mini apes (harley bars) to my bike and did the wire extension on it. Way too much wire so I will tuck it in the bars and behind the headlight plate.

Good thread thanks for all the info fellas I have been considering this as a weekend or winter mod. I like shoptroll relocated my blinkers down on the trees. Ialso like the relocated look but alsobecause I ride with a windshield alot it and at night it was like riding with a lit jack-o-lantern on your head from the orange glare comming back off of the windshield from the turn signal / running lamps.

I cut, splice and solder and then use heat shrink on each wire and then use a large piece over the area of the harness that i cut into. If its good enough for all those big name guys building those bikes valued at over 6 figures then its good enough for my bike. Screw all that extra hassle of pulling the harness lose and then removing the connector pins from the plug without screwing one of them up.

John
I'm with you.... I cut and spliced mine to.... over a year ago and never a problem!

Default Do It Yet?

Did you start this yet? I just did my 2004 and found no connectors. My cables met in the middle and joined a larger bundle that ran down the inside of the frame backbone. I cut/spliced and finished mine in about three hours.

Don't expect a response back. That post is way back in 07.
