Default Installing Fwd Controls

Has anyone done this themselves on a Street Bob or other?? If so, how difficult was it?

Thanks

Very easy and straightforward. You can just get the stock forwards off of a Wideglide and install them or get a kit from Kuryakyn or some other aftermarket manufacturer. I believe all Dynas already have the threaded holes in the frame.

On '06 and up, it is NOT easy. If you leave the mid-shaft in place it is, but if you want it to look like the wide glide primary without the old shaft sticking out, it takes the dealer 2+ hours to do it. You have to remove outer and inner primary to remove the old shift spline. On the pre '06 Dynas I hear it was a 45 minute job.

I left the mid shift shaft in, the job was easy. If you slide the old shaft in thru the primary as far as you can you'll be able to wedge it behind a bolt head sticking out of the crank case. I don't think it looks bad, but my bike was bought to be riden not to be made shiny and put up for show.

I'm with you I bought mine to ride the hell out of as well I used the Kury kit and the chrome cover that goes over the shaft no one ever has even noticed that shaft. Somday I'll have to have the primary off and then I'll take out that shaft but until them F*** it.

Thanks Guys! So it seems to be pretty easy and I think I'll put the cover over the old shaft. Any idea what part that is?

Ditto on that. I have taken them off my old '04 FXD to install on my '06 FXDCI. The only thing that was bought was a longer shift rod.

As they all said, easy install [unless you break a bolt like I did]. You can remove the shaft when/if your primary needs to come off.
