Those are a lot like the ones I have. Being single point mounted they will try to rotate on you if you put too much weight on them. On the other hand, they allow you a lot more adjustability, so they have advantages. The tendency to rotate can be easily remedied.
I ended up just roughing up the mating surfaces, riding and adjusting them until they were in the right position, torquing them down and then applying some wicking Loctite 290. That fixed them.
You definitely won't want or need to use the dogbone extensions. You will have all the adjustments that you will need to get a comfortable fit.
Seems that most parts and accessories these days are cheap Chinese junk and the fasteners are ungraded, but often times specially made for the application, so hard to find replacements for. Sometimes they bind and snap before proper torque can be applied. For this reason it won't hurt to chase the threads with a quality tap and die. The cheap t&d sets I've found to be oversized and remove too much of the threads for a sloppy and weak thread engagement, more prone to stripping out. Just a heads up.

The floorboard kit I want will not work with the Lindby guard I have. The only guard that the kit will work with is the OE 49218-01(prolly the FXDP guard?) or the V-Twins 51-0434. I've been searching hard, but can find neither.
I don't want to ditch a guard so, guess I'm SOL for floorboards.......
I have an '03 FXDL. Manufacturer specifically said the floorboard kit would not fit my model. What model is the photo? Thanks
First thing I think when I see or hear the phrase "Manufacturer specifically said the _______________ would not fit my model" is ... "oh, yeah?" ... "we'll see" ... after which I usually prove there is a way to make it fit (assuming I want it bad enough) ....
BTW ... I did a thread on how I mounted Softail floorboards ... it'll cost about as much as a good set of forward controls (i.e., ~$400 - $500 or possibly more) ... I found it to be worth it ... I was able to recoup some of the cost with my take-off parts ...
... as you can see already ... there is 'more than one way to skin a cat' so to speak ... several good options available ....
