thanks for taking the time. I think they look bad ***. our bikes our the same year, same color so it was like looking at my bike with the boards. I think I will go ahead and do it. The only thing I will do different is i will probably use the swept back shape boards.
i like them better than other boards I have seen. They look like they are soppose to be there.
Are they super comfortable?
Have you done any long rides with them yet?
They are very comfortable hell hound... It took a little gettin' use to though. After riding for 5+ years w/ Fwd controls, I still had that feeling that my feet were gradually sliding down and caught my self shifting my feet forward all the time. Now after a week or so, I just look down and say to myself.."Yup... they're still just where you left them, dummy". Funny what muscle memory will do to you.
No long rides yet. Just back and forth to work and around the local area. Looking foward to ging to Daytona for Biketoberfest though.
Best of luck with your project. If there's anything I can do to help...Let me know.
Great write-up and pics on this project. I've have been thinking about going this way too. I had a VTwin set that are copies of the FXDP version for 06 and up. I loved the floorboards but they seemed to be too high and not forward enough for my longish legs. The FLD placement seems to be better suited for me. Every time I go to the dealer to feel one out they just sold out, and I need to feel it before I pull the trigger.
You won't be dissappointed! I too looked at the boards for the FXDP, Every photo from every angle could possibly locate and, determined that they would be better suited for a 5'7" to 5'8"ish kind of rider. I'm 6'1"
The FLD boards are approx. 3" more forward, 1to 2" lower, move your shift and brake peddles rearward about 2" as compared to HD Fwd's and, are slightly lower at the back where as the FXDP boards are pritty much level.
Now that Ive been on them fore a while, I can't imagine how I got along without them for so long. Great on a long trip!
It does and thanks for that. Today I finally was able to see a Switchback for real and I like the feel and fit so I'm ordering the parts using your list.
Thanks for the info.
