Default Shocks

I am looking into changing my stock shocks out for a set of Progressive Shocks. I need to lower the rear end of my 2009 Dyna Super Glide about an inch to an inch and a half for better footing. I believe the stock shocks are 12.5 inches, but not sure.

I ride two up most of the time, but my passenger is not real heavy--maybe 130 lbs. I weigh about 230.

Can anyone suggest the best progressive shock to fit my needs? I see they offer many different models--what length could I get that would lower my bike but not bottom out?

in 2010 the stock shocks are 12"... im guessing 2009 are same? i dont think you are going to find any progressives shocks lower than 11". if you were to go to lower somehow you will have rubbing issues & very limited spring travel

I like my Burly shocks, dropped 2" and cost 200.00. The ride is still good, but nothing like stock. The stock shocks look goofy as high up as they sit IMO.

Thanks--do you think the 11" Progressive shocks will hold up with a passenger--don't want bottoming out issues.

I will check into the Burly shocks, I just want the rear end lowered but want to do it with worrying about bottoming out and rubbing the fender

I don't have any issues.

Sure. My passenger is a buck 10 and we've never bottomed out. I'm 230lbs too...

Progressive makes both standard and heavy duty versions of the 11 inch shocks. If two up is a common thing, just get the heavy duty shocks and you'll be a lot less likely to be banging them on the big bumps.

I'm pretty sure the stock shocks on a superglide are 12.6" and 12" on the street bob. If you only need a inch you could add a lowering kit much cheaper than new shocks. Some will say that the lowering kit is a bad way to accomplish lowering the bike, but I've had one on my bike for almost two years. I've never had the bike bottom out, with or without a passenger and I'm 225# and ride pretty hard.

if you dont want to bottom out go with progressive the 440 series they are fully adjustable i range from 230 to 260 lbs and the wifes a about 140ish they work really well,,,,, alittle pricey though but well worth it
