Installing Docking/Directional relocation kit
I got an '07 Street Bob that previous owner installed sissy bar and pillion seat.
I want to go to detachable sissy bar and solo seat so that I can go back and forth when my daughter wants a ride.
I have to remove fixed sideplate kit before I do anything - right??
Already got Docking kit/directional relocation kit from dealer - quoted $200 to install - beginning to look like a deal

Just put detachable setup / signal relocation kit on my Wide Glide. Had to take the rear fender completely off to remove the fixed sissy bar before putting it back on with the detachable hardware. I was installing the signal relocation kit and detachable hardware for sissy bar and saddle bags, took almost 9 hours total!!
I just did this on my Wide Gide a month or so ago. It's not that bad actually. One thing I would suggest is when you cut the wires for the directionals, cut them at least 6 inches down the wire. I cut mine kind of short and then it was a pain when I spliced them back together.
to keep from removing the rear fender i cut the 2 long turn signal bolts off with a hack saw (they have to be removed from inside the fender). if i had a jack at the time i may have been able to pull them out without cutting them off? (you wont need them again). you can remove the turn signal wires from the amp connector and avoid cutting the wires
