I have no clue how to measure, I just called up the guys at Hill Country Custom Cycles told them what year and model my bike was that I wanted 18" narrows (pre wired sooooooo sweet) and I was running a 2" risor they put the kit together and shipped it out. I will for sure post up pic's in the Dyna forum here once I have them done.

Thanks for the replies. I should have my bars in a few days, ordered yesterday. Hopefully JP cycles ground shipping is not too slow. I will measure then.

How long of a wiring extension kit did you go with?

My bob came with mini apes so I had plenty of room so I didn't need to elongate them

Oh ok, that makes sense. I am going to run the wires internal. I have never torn into my bike this far before, but from the looks of the service manual, taking the tank off and all isnt too hard.

What keywords should I search for? Just got an email, bars will be here Thursday! Then I will measure and order all my cables and wiring kit. I think I am going to go with some new grips as well, still riding the stock rubber ones.

The tank doesn't need to come all the way off just slide it back. The only thing you will have to remove is the AC for cables

What are you riding? If it's a bob don't worry about wire extensions

Magnum Shielding will give you custom cut quality cables and then if any of them are too long here and there, so long as you pay for shipping, they will resize them all for you and get them back out the same day. Even if you only need an inch taken off just for cosmetic reasons to make it look a little nicer, they'll do it. I's really pleased with their service.
