I'm wondering if it's time for a new battery for my 2007 Street Bob. The bike starts every time, but the engine turns over VERY slowly when starting. Running the bike for a while, and starting it again results in the same deal.
Today, I put my Battery Tender Junior on the battery, and had a solid green light after only about 10 minutes. I have a volt meter. Will that tell me if the battery is shot? What should it read?
Get a new battery. Do NOT trust that solid green light.

Charge it good(least 48 hours on tender) REMOVE battery and carry to AutoZone for a free reserve amp check. Printout will tell you all you need to know. Mine does that slow crap too also some times. Depends on were engine pistons stopped last. Not a lot of reserve built in a two cylinder and a lot of stroke. If it had a compression release it would not do that. However it does not hurt anything but I am like you, it always makes me wonder especially when I get on leaving work at 12:15AM and hit the starter. Mine's pushing 4 1/2 years. Had it checked OK first of summer. Probably put a Walmart gel in later since I ride year round.

Still running the original in my purchased new 2006 WG 9/2005. Never used a tender, but I do remove negative cable from the battery when stored over winter.
Like mentioned above take it into any parts store and they will test it and let you know. Or you could semi test it by watching the voltage 12.5 to 13.5 volts sitting, while cranking should not drop below 10.5 volts, while running should be between 13 and 15.
The new AGM motorcycle batteries are much improved over the lead acid's that lasted 1 or 2 years on average.
