Default Fat Bob Idea! Don't even know where to begin!

SO I am a big guy. 6'7 300 lbs. My stock drag bars got my shoulders hurting on rides, especially highway. Because of highway riding I have also realized I hate the forward controls. So here is what I am thinking. I spend a lot of time riding with my feet on the passenger pegs. I would like to turn my Fatbob into a bobber/cafe/racer/steampunk machine with a 6 inch rise or lower broomstick drag bar. I am so tall that mid controls will wear out my hips too fast. I rode about 80 miles yesterday on a nice two lane highway through the Sierra's out here in California and spent the mojority of the time in 3rd or 4th with my feet on the back pegs. I could have ridden 400 miles like this. It handled so well, it rode so well, and most of all...it was comfortable. I would imagine this would not be cheap so I am not rushing into this. If I could I would change the angle of the swing arm and the suspension to raise the back end into more of a sport position. I know this is sacrilegious but I want something different. I love the bike and I love the power. I just feel I am big enough to ride it this way and would like to try it.
So if anyone has any ideas as to who might offer some sort of rear control conversion, I think this might be the best spot for me to start.

I rode across the US twice on a '91 FXR. I found myself shifting my body position on the very long stretches of road, and moving my feet from the highway pegs to the mids and even to the passenger pegs. Surprisingly the passenger pegs were comfortable. I completely understand your need to make the ride work for you.

Perhaps you should start with a new set of rear shocks that are longer than stock, something like 13-13.5" (stock is 12"). You could also have someone custom fabricate some peg mounts that put the pegs exactly where you want them, unless the stock passenger peg mounts already serve this purpose. Finally, you may want to invest in a new seat, something that lifts your body so the peg locations are comfortable.

Good luck and keep us posted on your customization.

I was looking into replacement shocks. Just like you said 13.5. Custom seat, custom tail. I sent out a couple emails in regards to the rear controls. This to me seems like it may be the most difficult thing to find.

Any recommendations on the seat? I have been thinking about this for a while. Considering the seat feels like it is pushing me way up on the tank.
