Default Foot Pegs for Comfort

I just bought a 1200 sportster and love it, but I've never had this problem with other bikes, I have had pretty serious injuries in both knees but dont know if other people have had this problem or not. The motor vibration is causing some discomfort in both my knees at highway crusing, (I have the forward controls with the Stock rubber pegs).

I was thinking that maybe some larger foot plates might improve the comfort but that would be a guess, Can anyone give me some advice? I'd rather not spend $70 and not get results.

thanks

I still use stock pegs, but for long rides I alternate between stretching my legs out over the pegs, placing my feet on the pegs, and using the rear passenger pegs. This lets me move around and stretch. I dont know if this will help if you have old injuries but give it a try.

I put on HD Mini Floorboards and could not be happier. Comfort to spare.

I understand about the knees. The stock pegs weren't comfortable for me either. I've had good results with Kuryakn Dually pegs on my forward controls. The male mounts are a direct replacement and you can adjust the angle so it's easier to keep your feet on them.

you have a sportster, they vibrate, I have had them /ridden them since 1956..
there are a lot of improvements over the years, however it is still a v-twin with 45 degrees between cylinders. ( that is the "harley sound /harley power)

They are unique bikes.
I love them , however my other bikes are noticably smoother.
you can buy a lot of stuff , but it is still a "harley engine "

maybe you can put lipstick on a pig , however it it still a pig //
I think that is the reason they are called "Hogs"

Engine guard with highway pegs are great for stretching out when you're done shifting gears for a while.

Everything that has been said. It will still vibrate. I have the ISO pegs with the heal pads and it helped but not much. I have a 2003 which has the solid mounted engine (no rubber engine mounts). I just have to live with it or ride my Deuce which rides smooth as silk.

I think your problem is the forwards. With your legs stretched out your poor knees are being loaded up. Have you considered putting footpegs in the mid position? With all the other suggestions, folding your knees with your feet closer to you may help. You could end up with the bike with the most riding positions!
