Lately it had been windy in central tx I have a 07 dyna and im about 270 is it normal for the wind to throw ya around and make it feel like the back tire wants to flip ya?
I was at ft hood for 5 years and the wind is crazy. Its always blowing north/south and 190 was east/west. Its pretty normal to be going down the highway feeling like your riding sideways.
Where I live it gets windy. We have those wind farms all around to turn this stuff into electrical power.
All I get when riding in the wind is some wind buffeting and added wind noise, nothing to make the back tire feel squirmy.
Check your tire pressures. You might also look into stabilizers like the Sputhe or True-Track. They will keep your bike free from swingarm induced slop that might give you some squirliness.
I live in centex and I ride a '11 Super Glide custom, and yeah the wind does get bad. I weigh about 240, but I never felt like the back tire wants to flip me. Definately ride sideways a lot of times though. I suggest following HemiOrange's advice. Ride safe.
I'm 205lbs....some gusts will shove you pretty hard and you'll feel like you're almost going to do an involuntary lane change. Your arms will learn how to deal with it. As for the rear tire feeling like it's going to flip ya? Yeah...I'd check your tire pressure. With you at 270 lbs..having slightly low tire pressure will have more effect on you, than a 150 lb rider with low tire pressure.
