Default Wind, How much is too much?

I am pretty new to riding. What do you consider is too much wind to the point of being unsafe. Its suppose to be 25mph wind today and I would like to ride to a friends which is about 30 highway miles. How much will I get pushed around, am I even going to notice it?

25 MPH isn't all that bad, you will need to be on your toes and constantly correcting for it, but thats part of riding. I will ride in any wind up to a full blown (No Pun intended)Wind storm, which around here is probably around 60+.

It depends on the type of bike and your ridingexperience. I've been riding for long time and I have two bikes. One isa Sportster, the wind can push you around a little or lot depending on how the wind ishitting you. My other bike is a Road King I haveno problems in a 25 mph wind but at a dead stop, watch out for a gust of wind coming from the side you'll feel it.

If it blows you over, it was too much

Seriously, I have ridden in 40-50 gusts with no problem, but as Pacemaker pointed out above, it kind of depends on the bike you are riding and your experience. A Softail weighs in at about 600 lbs and is going to be a lot more stable in winds than a Sporty might be....

I have a02 Wide Glide and I am 6'-4" about 220lbs. My riding experince is about 3 days and 75 miles. I guess there is only one way to find out. I just wanted some opinions from experienced riders. I guess just stay in the center of the lane to accomidate for gusts.

I think you have the right idea about side gusting. Recall you are traveling at 40 to ??. The bursts of wind from the side can get a little unnerving but just be prepared. The size of the bike and whether you have a windshield or faring will also make a difference. The same thing happens when atractor trailer passes youj. I have also experienced some pretty stiff cross wind when traveling across bridges or rivers. You shouldn't have any problems at 25, go for it.

I don't have a windshield and the highway I will be on has a 65mph speed limit so I will probable going 70. I better learn how to ride in 25 mph wind, lesson one will be this afteroon I guess. Anything else you can suggest besides riding in the center lane?

A lot of Fatboy's wheels are solid... wind loves to push at the wheels on my fatboy. I don't like wind pushing at my bike... crosswinds are nasty, gets you fatigued in a hurry.
