If it blows you over, it was too much

If it blows you off it's pretty bad....off your bike, I mean.

I have a Fat Boy and didn't notice the wind all that much. It's a beefy bike. Love that fat front tire to for the grooves. Then again it wasn't that windy yesterday. But windy enough to realize that it won't be that big of issue.

My wife and I got caught in a very heavy side wind in Nevada a few years ago. She was riding her '99 Dyna and I was on a '00 FLHT.

When the side-wind became so bad that it was truly moving us across the road, we stopped, got off the road and waited it out. Along with the wind problems, the dust was so thick that our visibility was limited.

The wind died down in a half hour or so and we went on our way. The weather folks reported that the wind gusts had beenover 75 knots and had blown some big rig trucks off the road.

Fatboy here in Nevada and surpising enough we get some periods of wicked winds, but I have to say besides an occasional scare from crosswinds and wind fatiguing you quicker the wind is doable, at 25 mph you will ahve no worries and may hardly even notice it on a wideglide. just my humble opinion.

Ok, I'll be the dissenter here.

3 days and 75 miles riding experience...
You have too many other things on your mind that aren't automatic yet to be worried about cross winds like that.
25 mph winds are indeed no big deal, but not while you are reminding yourself about left hand clutch, right hand brake, more front brake than rear, push to turn, etc...

I just went for a ride around town. when I got to some open areas the wind was gusting to 35 ( according to weather.com ). I was going 40 and it was uncomfortable. I will ride 70 another day when I don't have the wind on my mind.

God I love my bike, just sucks its so windy out there. Tomorrow is suppose to be 67 with no wind. 46 when I get up, I think I will be pissing the neighbors off for the first time. I leave for work at 6:30 and live in a apartment complex consisting of 4 buildings that the noise can bounce off of.

I agree with Rhubarb. If you're not familiar with your bike the last thing you want to do is add another thing to think about -- like dealing with wind. If you must do it, so be it. Use less speed, be light in your grip but not too light, and for heavens sake be nowhere around an 18 wheeler in crosswinds. Its trailer is like a huge sail and a big gust can put it into your lane in the blink of an eye. Slow down and let it pass!

Don't hurry the process. You have the rest of your life to gain practice and experience. It will all come to you if you give it time.

I would get a few more miles under my belt before I started to deal with adverse riding conditions if I were you.
