Should I get the 11" HD or 12" standard?
(Rear tire is Metz 170, im 225 & ocassionaly the wife comes (140)
Its between those choices before I pull the trigger.
I know there are lots of threads bout Progressives and riding comfort.
Stock height is 12", so on my FXDB should I go w/ black 12" 412 Heavy Dutys or lower down to 11".
I know I will be fine w/ the 12" setup, but I like the lowered look. Will it be ok w/ my wife(140lbs) and me (225lbs.) or will I loose my rear fender, wires, and azz lol
Here is the conversation I had w/ Progressive

I like the lowered look, so I was thinking of getting the 11" Black 412's. Members tell me that I will be fine w/ the standard 11" and not to get the Heavy Duty model.
Should I get the 412 11" standards, HD's, or stay safe and get 12" ?
If you have more questions you can email me or call me at 847-924-7062.
Thanks"
Response:
"I would go with the standard if I were you. If in the future you wanted to go with the heavier spring we can swap it for $15 per shock. 11 inches is low and you will lose some travel so I always prefer to go long but I am tall so I have an advantage, it really is a personal choice.

He also commented when I asked what the Heavy Dutys are for and what weight:
"If you were 250 or more or rode 2 up 50% of the time I would go heavy duty"

I actually just slapped on a pair of 11" 412's. I initially didn't have the right setting and I was feeling my spine shake everytime I hit a bump. Once I got the right setting (2nd from the bottom), the ride is pretty good...no bottoming out and killing my spine (I'm about 195 lbs). The only thing is now that it's lowered, I can't get my damned jack under it.
Get the standards unless you are 300 lbs. I'm 220 and progressive said I was to light for HD's, so I switched to standards and so much better. I run the 11" and I love them now with the standards springs.I have mine on the third setting. I haven't tried it on any lower setting yet, but I like it where it's at. With the drop ins up front I really like the ride.
Will the standard 11" w/ my wife be ok? That's going to be over 300lbs.
I don't ride 2 up but I'm sure that's fine. I was told if each of you weigh 300lbs get the HD's. I'm going to bump my shocks from the 3rd preload to the 2nd and see how that feels. I only got about 200 miles with the standard spring, I'm still playing with them. I just wouldn't go with the HD's. You can always write or call that number I have in my thread I posted above and Progressive will give you a solid answer. Here's with the 11" shocks on the bike.
You know I meant 300lbs each right?? I'm telling you it will be harsh with the HD's, still ask Progressive. I'm just making sure because I realized I might have worded that retarded. If you like it on the stiff side you will be fine I guess.
Ooh shoot! That's stiff? Yah I must have read it wrong. Ok im gonna call them up tomorrow and I will post back w/ what they say bout the weight for 11" 412 setup.
Mainly im worried bout hitting the wire that are right under the fender inside the long rubber wire loom leading back into the computer. Let u know what they tell me morrow.
