OP--Try a different model/brand. My Dyna has the Q/D Sport w/s. While I sometimes get buffeting, wearing my 3/4 helmet w/ shield, the w/s stays on the bike. It keeps the bugs and rocks and rain off you, and all the pressure from the wind on your torso.

Try raising the windshield up, and tilting forward as far is it'll go. It worked well for me.

That's fine for some areas around the country, but anyone who's ridden U.S. 12 between Bronson and Niles Michigan at night will tell ya that ain't gonna work! The bugs in that area are unbelievable at night! Like a rainstorm! A face shield gets completely covered by them in about 30 seconds unless you look downward at your tank. A windshield gets covered with them too, but it deflects them well above your head.

Can try keeping your knees squeezed against the tank to block some of the air coming up from there, helps some but doesn't fix it completely. Bottom line is that you have to get your head either completely in the low pressure zone behind the windshield or completely out of it.

I have a Compact detachable windshield for my Fat Bob. I spent countless hours adjusting up, down, tilting forward, tilting backward but still had an incredible amount of wind buffeting. I was ready to buy a larger windshield to direct the air up & over my head. instead I cut off 6" inches off the top of the windshield & I now truly enjoy riding with a windshield which I never did before. I no longer have that "Blown off the Bike" feeling & I still have the wind on my face which one of the many reasons I enjoy riding a motorcycle in the first place.

Do something to block the wind under your trees - like a tool bag

So, we both had success with tilting the windshield forward. I get too much wind coming from the gap between the headlight and windshield opening when the shield is in the higher position, so lowering it did the trick for me. Perhaps if I filled that gap it would have worked.

The OP can do the windshield forward tilt and quickly try raising it and lowering it to see the difference it makes for him.

I'm very comfortable at any speed now, no perceived difference between 50 to 100+ MPH. Buffeting used to be the worst at about 50 to 70. Now it's a very rare occasion, the cross-wind has to be just right to feel any at all, then it disappears at the next curve or upwind embankment.

Post up a pic of what you've got.

None of us care if it's HD or not, my only HD accessory is the QD windshield and LED headlight. Their LED is the only offering that I know of and it's a good one. The HD QD shield IMHO has the best mounting system, but can be adapted to fit other brands.
