Default !!!please help!!!

Alright so I just did my first service on the street bob and the manual says 32 oz in primary and 32 oz in trans. Now.....

Problem #1 After the trans was empty I put in 32 oz and it read way over full, so I drained some out, again, and again (little streams at a time) and now finally it reads on FULL. I would say I drained at least 6 oz (remember that number)

Problem #2 After I was done changing the trans and primary I drained the oil back into the original quart bottles. After all oil was in the bottles I only had 56 oz not 64! I can understand 2 oz or so because of clean up and what was still in the drain tub but then I realized that also included the oil that was over the trans full mark.

Near as I can figure only approx 50 oz came out of the trans and primary (but the trans read full?)

Trans oil level should be checked while the bike is on the jiffy stand. Did you check oil while bike was on a lift?

nichiowa; if trans dipstick's reading full & primary's covering your clutch basket - you're good. Don't worry so much about "precise" measurements. Get out there & break-in the new fluids!

Yep, checked on the jiffy on a level surface.

As far as the primary, with the bike on the jiffy after 32 oz it just started to come out of the case, sound right?

On jiffy - yes...should reach top of primary opening & if level/lifted you should see/feel fluid @ bottom of clutch basket so ride on & great job servicing your own scoot.

When you fill the primary, the bike should be in a chock or on a stand/jack. When its on the side stand, you'll end up being a couple of oz's short every time.

I'm sure there is, but 4 oz's short is a bit too much. Since oil is the only thing that cools the clutch, being stuck in stop and go traffic could have a new meaning.

Unless you did not warm the bike up then change the fluids I would just through 1 qt in primary, 1qt in transmission and 2.5 qts in engine. Then your done check fluids but with these numbers and a decent drain when bike is warm you should be golden. When the bike is not warm then you run into an issue because it will not flow out very well and may leave quite a bit behind hence the reason you may have been over. Just my opinion
