I have a 2009 Fat Bob with a 103" stage four and 18,000 miles. I've got an annoying engine knock. Sounds like a penny in a tin can or kind of what an almost empty spray paint can would sound like if you shake it really hard and fast. It is very loud after riding the bike hard for about 10 minutes. I can hear it over the exhaust. It has also caused the idle on the bike to idle a bit higher at stops. It's actually changed the sound of the bike(exhaust). Dealer thought bad gas and gave me some octane boost. I've been through 2 tanks of gas and nothing. Any ideas?? I also seem to have lost a little power.
Why would it be on the dealers dime, it's a 3 year old bike?
The erratic idle would indicate a vacuum/intake leak issue, which could also cause timing issues causing the knock.
Maybe it's just me ...But, it sounds like the dealership "dummied up", gave him a placibo, patted him on the a$$, and sent him on his way. And I know my guys would never do that to me.

Yup, That is the voice of experience speeking. I'm thinking...It's probably happened to many of us (that "Pat on the A$$"), atleast once. But I gotta tell ya, I made that call and they came to my work, picked up the scoot, and I picked it up on the way home. That same day! Problem solved... on their dime. A little good will goes a long way in my book.
