Ridgid Bob??
Well the kit would look something like this http://www.chopper-kit-usa.com/fat_t...rley_DYNAl.htm
I really like the looks of those "not shocks" but I don't see how it would help you get a bigger tire on there.Although, it would help you slam it AFTER you did a big tire kit and the installation would be allot easier than a weld on hard tail they also would look allot cleaner than home made struts.
It would help me in that i wouldn't have to worrie about the shock mounts etc and all it would do is basically weld a lrger swing arm direct to the frame and make it cleaner overall because there would be nothing back there but swingarm fender and a **** load of tire.
Converting a dyna chassis to a rigid is not an easy project. The softail chassis lends itself to that mod, but the dyna doesn't have as much weld area because of the difference in swingarm design. Even if you weld it up, I would think the non shocks to brace the swingarm would be a good idea. It all about triangulating the stress on the frame and welds. Good luck with your project. It sounds like you'll be one of the few dyna riders with a huge rear tire. Love it or hate it, you'll get noticed.
Yeah I think it will be sharp or damn sure differnt even though others seem to think it will look like A$$ last time I checked I was making the payments lol. Alot of ppl seem to think a bob needs whitwalls or some huge crash bar to be old Skool so I guess I'll have the first chopped bobber lol.
Atlas makes a rigid frame for the Dyna. Good luck finding a hard tail section for a Dyna. I have looked for over a year so if you find one let me know. If you have the fabrication skills and know what your doing then do it. It's your scooter so chop it. If you decide to do it post some pic's. Me...I want a rigid bike but I'm not chopping up my Dyna to get it. I'm looking for an old sporty...They make kits to rigid them cheap..

I might spring for the kit I haven't decided either way I'm just tryin to compare the costs and see which is more feasible. It will cost between 4-5 g's to do the 250 -300 mm tire if I get the kit. I'm thinking I can pay for the ridgid setup for about 2500 or so.
Just to clairify i was refering to welding the dyne frame up. I am all for the wide tire although i personally wouldnt go more than a 200. And i wasnt trying to be critical of your choice or right to do as you please, Just my opinion thats all. The silver wide glide in in your post is very nice looking. But man that is one expensive mod. All the best and look forward to seeing a pic.
Jireh cycles and I think J&P both carry weld on hardtail kits for the older, shovelhead DYNA's. Maybe you could modify it to fit.
Some don't like it, others do
Some like stock H/D's and some are "chopper guys" at heart
I am a chopper guy. Chop the d@mn thing up and make it yours. Susie had 13 miles on the clock when I started pulling crap off and tossing it in the trash! I still think she is way too fat and lazy, by the way.....
By far the cleanest way to do it is to get a custom made frame. A really wide tire is going to cause you to have to go with right side drive...meaning a separate right side drive transmission, and an adaptor plate for the back of your motor to get it into an "Evo style" frame. Some companies will sell you the frame "tack welded" versus fully welded. Why do this? So that you can knock the new neck of the frame and weld on your factory neck tube, with all the factory vin #'s, keeping it a Harley. Is it illegal? ABSOLUTELY! That's why you do it![&:]
for 4-5K, you can get a roller rigid from fogHollow.com and strip your bike and use the majority of the parts. Are you sure you want to "rape" a new scooter?[&:]

When I was buying my bike the dealer asked me what Chrome accories I wanted them to put on for me chrome and I asked how much faster that would make it go. He laughed of course and asifd it would why would you ask that? I asked him if it won't make it go faster further or harder why the hell do I need it. Thats my mentality I don't even hardly ever wash my bob i bought it flat black so I never have to I like riding it the ever loving $hit and thats why I want the bigger meat. More meat more traction. I'm planning a big powerplant and I'mean a BIG powerplant 140+ so I'm just working on getting all my ducks in a row prior so when I start the engine everything else will be ready. If any one needs heat shield BTW I'm getting ready to throw mine away. Too much wind resitance lol.
