Yes filtering is a concern which is why I am going with one of models designed to hold a filter.
@SURFOR Chop I am going to be putting cams and fuel mamangment in for sure. might go whole hog with a big bore kit as well. But maybe that will have to wait till next mods season (winter) as my OL is wanting a vacation in January. :-)
Yeah guys filter is the only way I'd go because this isn't a show bike it's a riding to work, 80 miles each way, from spring til snow flies and a few rides thrown in during the winter as well kind of bike so I wouldn't put anything on it (no matter how cool I though it would look) that would in the long run kill it. I love my Wide Glide too much and plan on keeping it since it is my first HD. Any new, or new to me, bike down the road will be in addition to the Wide Glide. :-)
If I go with a stack, the stack I get will have a filter.
I'm not sure if it has a filter in whether its actually still a velocity stack; it won't flow like one. I think it will be a velocity-stack-shaped air cleaner. Which is fine if that's what you are looking for.
Once you put a filter in it, it doesn't flow very well. There's a chart on the Wimmer site showing CFM flow figure for their intakes; the filtered ones aren't all that good.

Yeah I was looking that chart...but it does look like they have one filter model that breaks teh 210 range. That's pretty good for a guy who doesn't have a lot of interest in winning drag races.
