can i use this tank panel for a tach?

but as i'm looking at it, i realize that it doesn't have the little hole on the side for the odometer button. that's probably ok since i can probably just drill one, right??
the second issue is the second hole (insert your favorite jab here!!).
it's 2 1/2 in across. now, there is a 2 5/8in tach, but it seems just as big as a speedo.
there is also a 2in one.
but, is the size # of the actual face or the OD of the whole thing?
whadda yall think? am i screwed? (i didn't spend much for it anyway)
BTW, i'll figure out where to put the idiot lights later but where are they on the bike it came off of??
and no................i've never had a problem with the second hole..........lets just get that out of the way!!

The idiot lights on an FXD on part of the speedo bracket, and mounted on the handlebars.

The top is gas ... bottom is fuel guage.

Top cut-out is where one adds gas on a FXD ... the bottom is where the guage is installed. I cant see how that would work. Sorry I confused you enough to hit me with a chair!! [&:]

one thing i didn't realize is that the speedo that goes in that panel is different, it's bigger. to that alone is enough to shut this thing down. and he didn't have any tach in (either the 2 or the 2 5/8) to test it in the smaller opening.
soooo.......................i got a black panel to sell!! like i said, it was cheap. i got a good deal to cause it's not cheap from the dealer.
while i was there, i looked into the ignition idea. the good news is that it looks like it will be relatively easy to get a ignition **** switch thingie in that area below the idiot lights. the switch is only like $130 and if i order it, they can key it to match my current key. i could then just use the front lock for locking the forks. the only thing we are unsure of is actually how it attaches to the panel from underneath.
thanks for the help.
