I was cruising eBay when I saw a couple different 106 kits. Rev tech and s&s I think. They weren't expensive either which makes me question their quality. Harley won't let dealers ship from the U.S. To Canada and big cube kits are outrageous here. Has anyone got any experience with these things. Are they really bolt on or are there fitment issues.
Any info and insight would be great.
Thanks
I have an 08 street bob with a 96 if that makes a difference

I went with the 107" kit from Revolution Performance. T-Man did their mods to my stock 96" heads and supplied their .625 cams.
My intake was handled with SE's 50 MM throttle body w/injectors and it is filtered by an Arlen Ness Big Sucker 1 with a Wimmer Better Sucker kit installed.
With these builds a better clutch is definitely needed, so an AIM variable pressure clutch was installed on the factory clutch before it became toast. A SE compensator soon followed.
The entire build was dyno tuned via the Power Commander.
These builds are more than a simple bolt-on of parts. To make them work the entire intake and exhaust, cams and heads need to be considered.
If you don't plan to make the $$$ jump, just stick to the SE 103" kit and perhaps a moderate cam. I took the jump from stage 1 to stage 4 and though it was impressive, it wasn't as cheap as the $1000 big bore kit suggested. A lot of other work was needed and the build ended up costing closer to $4000 when all of the needed parts were added.
Only info I have on the 106 kits is, i bought a 2010 wide glide that had a 106 ss kit with cams. I am surprised at the power this has. SS has been around for a long time. Most shops in my area will not install rev tech. Do a google search for reviews or problems with both you should find some answers your wanting.
It was the S&S I was looking at. And I emailed Dan Vance about re-working my heads. I have heard nothing but complaints about rev-tech and I have no interest in losin reliability. The 103 kits are fairly inexpensive but if I am paying for labour I only want to do it once so I will go as big as I can.
I plan on leaving the bike as is right now,put as many miles on it til the rings go then rebuild properly. I want to pick up parts a bitvat a time so when it's time to rebuild it I have everything and no surprises.
Thanks guys
I've got the S&S 106 Kit with 583 Easy Start Gear Drives in my 2009 FXD with TTS Master Tuner (Outstanding), V&H ProPipe BP and a Blood Groove Aircleaner. Lots of other stuff neat on the bike but that the "make it go" stuff.
Just started it up and rode it home from the shop today and it heads to Russel in Nanaimo on Monday for Dyno Break in and Tune. Does not sound like or feel like it did. smoother, lumpy cams and more go. Will post after the break in and tune. Will probably need a different clutch down the road.
Thanks pat. From what I have read about the 106 it's a pretty simple install. Headwork is nice but not necessary. I bought a pair of 255s off a member here so they are going in this winter. I will easily put 30000kms on my bike next year. But then I got to thinking. If I am looking at 3-4 thousand for a 107 why not just spend the extra grand and go with a 120r. The S&S kit is far more cost effective here in Canada vs the Harley parts. Anyways. Thanks guys. I appreciate the input
