I'm planning on replacing the little front fender on my FXDC this winter but not with a cruiser fender. Who has fender pictures that you can post for some ideas. I'm hoping to go with the next size tire and want a fender the width of the forks and longer in the back.
i ordered a 21x120 fender blank, cut it out of there, i watned somethign that would hug the 21x120 front tire as tight as possible and it had to be metal (so i can coat it)... i could not find anyting so i ordered a blank
after i cut the radious and mount
you can see i shortened it even more in the front and rear before coating to flow better with the custom rear fender
I like the blue one, but the bear claw if tuff. Will give the bike a beefier look if that what your after... The Dude's blue fender is hot, the freakin vertical bolt patterns makes it tough to find a bolt on... I think RWD makes one, but it requires a lot of prep work prior to painting...
Those are some good looking fenders. I like the way you trimmed down the bear claw but I wouldn't trust myself not messing it up.
I forgot to mention I also found www.sumax.com but oldincs prices are way better. What width fender tabs did you guys use and did you have to use any spacers or anything? Also, what width fender did you guys get? I have the 100/90 tire and was thinking I would probably need 5" to give decent clearance and 6" seems like it would be way to big.
Appreciate the help.

Thank you -- honestly was a piece of cake. A Dremel tool did the cutting and some elbow grease for sanding. Also, close counts. I made a half-*** template and for the most part took my time. Otherwise I just eyed it up. You can only see one side of the bike at a time.

I used chrome spacers bought at the hardware store instead of tabs. I like the look and it was easier than trying to glass some tabs or mess around with any metal brackets. Here's a pick after I first mounted it and spray painted it black to get an idea of how it would look:
