With JUST pipes, no need to rejet it, but without a stage 1 air cleaner, you're not going to get much performance gain, just noise, which isn't a bad thing!

Hi,

Well, first off, Let me welcome you!

Second, I had Vance short shots on my old kawasaki V800A chopper, you'll love 'em, and leave the baffles in, they have a nice mellow tone, not too loud, not too quiet.

You MIGHT be okay with just the pipes, you'll know if you're too lean because it'll "pop" when you let off the throttle, also you can tell by pulling a plug and checking the color......

I HIGHLY recommend that you have the local H/D shop dyno tune it for you, then it will be right on! might as well wait until you have the intake to do that though......trust me you're eventually going to want to do it.

My .02,.....leave it stock, until you can do the intake and exhaust, and then have it dyno tuned. That way you won't damage the motor, and you'll get the maximum performance from doing this.

A dyno tune for a rejetting is a bit of overkill, with the rejet and the mufflers installed along with a stage 1, we're still talking single digit gains and would not justify the dyno tune cost IMO .If you check out the carb section in the do it yourself forum, it will give you the proper jetting and proceedure for what you need, and it will cost you about $4-$5 total $$$ spent. It would be different if your mods included cams, heads etc. and you were using a PCIII and needing a custom map built.
