I don't really like the alloy band on the stock one. The Switchback one is different, and I though I might prefer it.

At the moment though, I've taken the ally trim thing off, and filled the holes with some brass dome nuts. Not sure yet if I like it or not.
Anyone got a pic of the left hand side cover from the switchback, thinking of changing my 09 side covers for these, think they look much better without the chrome trims, cheers, Paul.

Thanks for that, i have an 09 FXDC & my lhs cover has 2 bolt heads coming through the cover, looks like from that picture the 2012 does not have any fixing bolts showing, have looked for a part number but nothing comes up so have emailed dealers & asked them, hopefully they'll come up with something, thanks again, Paul.
The part # is 66361-12 for the black one, or 66236-12 for wrinkle black, but I don't think you'll be able to use it on your bike. It fits in a completely different way, with lugs on top of the electrical caddy, and a clip underneath. Unless you replace the caddy too; I don't know if you can even do this, or what else you'd need to change.
Cheers for the info, think I'll go & look at one at the dealers & take off the cover & have a look. Presumably the battery cover will fit without any mods ?

Yes; the battery tray and the covers (other than the Switchback cover) have all been the same part #s since '06.
