I'm going to be doing the same thing to my street bob. When I remove the taillight does anything have to be done with the wires for the taillight or do they just need to be caped off?
You will have to tuck the wires neatly (the one that runs down the center) for the tail light. Because right now the excess is stuffed into the tail light itself. So if you fill everything in there won't be anywhere to stuff the excess. I would cap off the harness plug (im going to use a rubber cap that fits on there tight) so it won't short anything out from moisture.
that looks good. i personally dont have any objection to the stock tail light. A tail light is a tail light to me. I really like how clean the back of the bike is with just the turn signals being used as turn / brake lights.

Tail light mount is a Kuryakn curved laydown with an LED in the frame to illuminate the plate. This angle is flat enough that a couple of cops have eyed it as being "too flat" to be seen from the cruiser seat. Don't know if I would attempt to lay it any flatter? As to the question about more pics, not yet but I will try to get a couple more taken and posted.
Fender is is the bobbed fender kit for 06 and later dynas. I drilled the fender to mount the plate and wired in the led in the frame into the socket for the license plate on the run, turn, brake module.
If you remove the light housing, you'll need to install some sort of plate bracket. You can disconnect the light housing from the module under the seat, disconnect and pull the wires out of the connector at the light side and pull them through the fends bundle tube (not easy). You can use these wires to run a always on light for the plate bracket or to run a run/brake light on the plate mount if that's the way you go. PM if you need help.
Oh and yes you can run the turn sig lights as brake/turn/run lights with the center light unplugged (no mod needed).

Thanks for the info on this, but I actually made a bracket to hang my license plate from my HD rigid locking bags. I installed the bracket and plate onto my left bag. I wanted a clean look and nothing hanging off the fender, etc like the stock fender. Didn't want to ruin the bag with drilling holes in it, etc. So I made a slide over type of bracket that is shaped to the contour of the bag. The strip is roughly 1" width and I used the stock plate mount, which I pop riveted to the strip. It is secured down with the lid which creates a good grip and reinforced with heavy duty double sided 3M tape on the backside to the bag. I centered the setup on the bottom part below the lid when closed. Finished it with a good coating of VHT high temp wrinkle black to match the engine and accessories. If I didn't have bags then I would of done a axle plate kit, but with bags that wasn't an option.

If not, I believe the orange w/ white stripe wire from the old housing is your always on light. You could pick up a frame with a build in light and just wire it up.

No light on the plate, but I haven't really ever been hassled by LEO's in the past on other bikes as well without one. So hopefully my luck will continue, but if I ever get a fix it ticket for it then I will come up with something. I will post some picks up within the next month or so. The bike is at my painters shop right now getting some custom paint/airbrush work done. So I will post some pics up when I get it back from him.
