Default reduced reach forward control review

Being a shot fellow the forward controls on my 2010 wide glide were a bit much.
So I added the 50700005 reduced reach adapters. 1 inch up and 1 inch back. Big difference. I'm good now.

A little costly for what was in the package but they did the trick. It has a spacer to move the brake peddle out for the new brake arm to clear. The torx was stripped on the head and that is really hard stuff. Burned up 7 drill bits trying to get it out. Well The new brake arm worked without the spacer.

So if your having a bit of a problem with your reach this may do the trick. I am very comfortable now

I put the reduced kit on my Fat Bob, would definitely recommend them if your feeling stretched trying to reach forwards. My rear brake pedal before felt almost unusable because I had to stretch to reach it, now its great.

Is this an after market part or a MoCo part?

What is your height, if you don't mind me asking??? I was planning out my winter mods and was thinking about doing forwards on my Street Bob but never did because I thought it would be uncomfortable for me, only 5'6".

Do you have any comparison pics???

Thanks, Jason

New to the forum, first post!

I'm a long time rider but new Harley owner with a 100th anniversary Softail. Being just 5' 3" in height, a reduced reach seat was my first purchase. Amazing the difference it made! I couldn't reach the brake at all before.

I also removed the aftermarket footboards (which were just too low for me) and added pegs. Now the brake pedal is definitely useable. Not sure if I should bother with a reduced reach brake pedal now since the pedal is workable. I wonder if it would be better or too much.

It's also going in for lowering by 1 inch this week. This will be MY bike before long!

To sort of answer a few questions, the distance between your seat and the foot controls has more to do with your inseam than your height. Generally yeah a much taller person will have a larger inseam but this isn't necessarily true as were all built proportionately different. I don't remember where it was online but I accessed a chart a while back showing rider inseam lengths for various Harley models and like in my case I am 5'10" but I have a 32" inseam so the 33" reach to the forwards on a stock Fat Bob was workable but stretched farther than I was comfortable with. I did find another link which I am posting below my comment. The Fat Bob and WG with forwards are in the top end of the longest rider inseams between stock seat and stock controls though so your bike may not need it as much. The reduced reach kit brings the clutch foot lever back a bit over an inch using a square block to simply relocate it and for the brake pedal it it uses a triangle block to rotate it back slightly and bring it more upright instead of the rotated forward position of the pedal along with using a new reduced length brake rod. I now have a C&C solo seat w/ riders backrest which sits me a couple inches forward so I pulled the reduced reach controls off and sold them because I like the sitting farther forward more than controls brought farther back. If your happy with your seat, I would definitely recommend this kit if your legs feel like your having trouble comfortably getting pressure on the brake pedal. The clutch foot lever can be rotated easily so it wasn't anywhere near as much of an issue for me as not being able to effectively use the rear brake pedal. Hope that helps, link below.

Thanks for reviving this thread. I sat on a '13 WG and it felt a bit far. I'm 5' 9" with a 30" inseam. I could reach the controls, but I don't think I could depress the brake comfortably. On a longer ride, I think I'd feel it in my knees.
