Hoping to go for a ride tomorrow because it's suppose to be in the mid to high 30s. We haven't had much of a winter so far and chances are real good we won't have a white Christmas. The good thing is that if we end the year without a big storm then there won't be a whole lot of winter left. Once we get to March, then we start getting days here and there that are warm enough to ride a little as long as the salt has been washed off the roads. Hope you get your bike back so you can get some sleep.

NovaRacer, it has TR-555TQ cams and by the way, my planned ride was a bust today. We got an inch of snow overnight and it stayed cloudy all day today and never warmed up into the high 30s like they'd been predicting. I don't mind riding in the cold but getting the bike all nasty and dirty right now is a no-no.

Love your mods. It sounds awesome! My budget is V & H Slipons. It was 50* and here but I was decorating for Christmas so didn't get out. Dang, and got some new gear I was wanting to try.....

Chickrider, thanks very much. How are you liking those V & H slipons? I really like the way they look and I considered putting those on my bike too. I'm still hoping for a Christmas ride because the 10 day forecast is still showing us being in the 30s and up to 40 degrees at times. As long as I can have dry roads with no salt on them, I can ride for a while until I find some hot coffee.....spiked if possible. Really enjoying all the different mods all the FLD owners are doing!!!!

Thought I was going to change my bars again for a while there and I did a lot of research. The two in the height you are talking about that I personally liked were Carlini and Bukybars for the FLD. I also personally feel that given the girth of our front ends, the fatter the bar...the better, to complete the overall vibe. Both of the above manufacturers offer up their apes and modified z-bars in 1.5" stock. When you see a 1.5" next to a 1.25" (which is what I have now) the difference is day and night. It really makes it pop I think, and looks very custom. The ones you see in my pic are wild1's chubby apes, 12.5" and with the stock FLD risers that I kept, the height comes to about 15"

So if you are intending upon keeping the stock risers, add another 2.5" to your anticipated finished height... just an FYI

Those ape hangers look great on your bike FB. Are they more comfortable for you than the stock ones?
I want to put the detachable sideplates and sissy bar on mine. Anybody have any input or experience with those and the saddle bag covers. I'm not even sure if they make fixed sideplates for the FLDs.

Actually, everyone liked them but me but I have shoulder issues. They are a little too wide (36") and tad tall for guys with same issues I have, I think. Now that I've added a drivers backrest, I'm fine and like them again. I think perryross made a good call on using the streetbob bars on his. When i sat on that bike before buying my fld, they felt real good. However, mrnone has no shoulder issues and said he really liked the way my apes felt, so it's relative to the individual. To do again and go apes, I would go no wider than 32" with a max height of 12" including riser height. I didn't like the stock bars on the FLD...too low, no vibe, boring to look at and boring to ride.

It takes some patience to put the docking plates on, getting everything lined up, spacing is close. Behind the fender is a backing plate which the bolts thread into, it is on the soft side, I cross threaded one hole - thank goodness for thread chasers! There are some rubber spacers on the bike that need to be reused but they were NOT mentioned in the instructions a recieved when I did it a few months ago.
