got a DTC need help with
rear 02 sensor open/not responding
my brothers 08 fat bob has had a lil issue since we put the power commander 3 on it and i can't figure out what to do. it will sometimes stay on high idle when coming to a red light and will stay that way for some time even if the bike is warm. i called power commander and they told me that in no way was it the tuner, i asked if it could be the 02 eliminator and was told that he had never herd of one going bad. and proceeded to tell me that the code being thrown could lead me elsewhere on the bike like the IAC or TPS does anybody have any suggestions.
As far as the high idle goes my 2011 Street Bob did this during the summer time. I called HD and asked there technical guys and was told the higher idle is just the engine idling higher to cool itself off . I have never had my bike run bad (2011 Street Bob) but when the weather is hot and the motor gets hot when I pull up to a stop light the motor always idles high until the temperature drops some and the motor starts to cool off a little bit.. It takes some getting used to it , the idle can be as high as 1500 RPM . this is normal for an efi bike. It will do this even with some aftermarket tuners. I have a TV3 and it still does it. If it revs higher than about 1500 id call the HD shop and tell them you have a problem. Don't be surprised however if they don't blame the PC3 .
How does an air cooled motor's cooling system benefit from a high idle? I could understand if it were liquid cooled to keep the fluid moving with the (water) pump but, air cooled?

Here's what you need from Radio Shack:

What code does it throw?
that may lead to the problem. I am not so sure it is the PC3 unless it is not have good connections. Is it a plug and play type?
However, you can disconnect it and reconnect he o2 sensors without removing everything just to see if it does it without it. I don't suggest taking a trip though. long enough to get it at full operating temperature.
So it idles correctly until it warms up?
If you bought it from fuelmoto they have a very good warranty and they will replace it without any questions or tell you what it may be.
just a thought

Has a "check engine" light been thrown?
If not, dont worry about a p0154 code. Its one of the codes we ignore when we see it, unless its associated with a check engine light. Even then, if you have O2 eliminators, you could have a bent/broken pin in the connector, or the eliminator took a dump.
I will say this, the P0154 code and the high idle are NOT related.
If you want to put a bandaid on the high idle, shoot some carb cleaner down the port for the IAC and clean the built up gunk out of it. This will usually work for a while, until the IAC finally gives up the ghost. Then replace the IAC.
You'll know when the IAC goes. The bike wont idle at all.
