So, i'm having second thoughts about not haveing the dealer ship install a alarm on my 2011 Fat Bob when i bought it last week. Now looking at some online deals they are available for a lot less that the dealer price.
is this somthing that can be installed by the owner, or is this a dealer only install. I have searched for threads about this but not found any.
I would love to be able to buy one of these and install it my self and save some $$$, but would be a little embarrising to buy one, then have to go to the dealer and pay to have it installed anyway...
Is the TSSM registered to the ECM like the SERT's are after they are installed? i ask this as i have seen a few used ones for sale also.. got me to thinking i might be able to save even more on a used one.
I've heard that you may have to take the fob to the dealer to get it registered. I have included a link to the instructions. You may be able to do it yourself by having the electrical diagnostic manual.
I put one on my '11 Wide Glide. I couldn't program the fobs by myself, so I took it to the dealer. I had to install the TSSM in their parking lot before wheeling it in for the fob programming so they wouldn't charge me an extra hour of labor to install it themselves.
I was informed that the bike wouldn't run without being programmed with the new TSSM. I spent 5 minutes swapping modules and paid to have 2 fobs programmed
