Default HD Smart Security System

My FLHX didn't come with the Smart Security system. I am planning on purchasing but was wondering if I can purchase the system and install myself. According to Harleys web site, it says it is an in-store purchase only.

You can install it yourself, but only a dealer can program it.

Exclamation Please read. -- Smart Security -- Please read

I recently did this.
Didn't get the security option on purchase of the motorcycle but the more I thought about it, the more I wanted it.
Did a lot of research and came to the conclusion that having my local dealer install it was the best way to go. The service advisor told me it would take an hour of labor. It took an hour and a half.
All told it was a $500.00 modification.

MAKE SURE you do not spend the money on the HD siren.
Search the forum (probably in the DIY section) for the $6.00 Radio Shack siren.
Best $6.00 bucks I ever spent!

Correct answer , install is pretty easy but dealer has to program it, think the labor charge was is about the same to install and program or just program , if I remember correctly.

you can do the install and the programing yourself. the only thing you cant do yourself is program the keyfobs to the unit. the are programing and learn links out there. Here is the steps to Marry your TSSM to the bike. then all you have to do is pay for 1/2 hour labor for the dealer to use DT to program FOBS.

$500? Wow!
KIT-SECURITY SYS-Z,DOM/HDI
Part# 68200-07A Price $263.96 @ Lakeshore Harley and a maximum 1/2 labor charge. It take longer to take off the side plate than it does to snap in the module.

I installed the smart security system on my 2012 ultra classic. You install the module, antenna and program the module. You have to take it to the dealer to marry the fobs.
Charged me $42.00 to marry the fobs.

I have a 2012 ultra classic without Hd smart security. Hence got a pair of key fobs and an Antenna. But now in a confused state about the part numbers for the core module. Can you please list all the part numbers you have used in your 2012 ultra.

Thank in advance
