Default Dyna Floorboard comparison

I'm pretty sure I'm going to install some floorboards on my Dyna and I wanted some opinions and pictures. My choices seem to be either the factory FLD boards or the Wyatt floor board kit. The Wyatt kit seems pretty complete and cost effective but I really can't tell from the internet pictures how high they sit. It seems like the factory boards are a little lower. Some side pics for comparison from you guys would be helpful. Also to the FLD guys, any problems with scraping?

I went with the FLD boards.
I looked at everything I could find (Pics. included) and determined that the Wyatts were more level with the ground, and a little further back.
I chose the boards for the FLD because the brackets come out below the pipe, where the Wyatts come over the pipe. This allows the boards to be slightly lower in the rear. Plus, the FLD's are an inch or so more forward.

Take a look. If you are intrested, There is a list of PN's with prices and notes for all the stuff you'll need here on the forums. just "search" "floorboards on a Dyna"

If you are putting them on an '06 or newer, the FLD's work well, and look like they've been there all along. '05 and earlier, I can't say for sure that they would work.

Another thing to concider is the exhaust you have on. I run V&H Big Guns, and had to cut away part of the heat shield for clearance on the R/H aft bracket. It's no big deal, But on some exhaust, it could be a showstopper.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes, and Merry Christmas....Tim(HT)

That was my concern. The Wyatt kit looks nice and complete but it does seem higher. I guess I'll go with the factory stuff.

It seems that those that like forward controls prefer the FLD boards. If you're comfortable with mid pegs, you may like the Wyatt boards. I had the Wyatt's for some time before test riding an FLD. I did not like the FLD boards. They felt too far forward. But that's probably just me. BTW, the Wyatt boards are exactly the same height as the old FXPD boards.

For reference, I'm 5'10, 31" inseam, 192 lbs., and I have a Mustange Vintage Wide seat with backrest. I also have a f*cked up lower back, I'm constantly battling sciatica and have a neck that was finally put back together correctly in 2008 after breaking it in 1971 on a dirt bike.
