Made some changes to the Low Rider
At the same time I put on a Vance & Hines 2 into 1 exhaust that I got for a song on Ebay and a set of 8" T-bars.
The cams and exhaust made a HUGE difference. Not even like the same bike anymore. I was missing the power of my old Evo and this really did the trick to pep up the 88.
The bars I'm not totally happy with the looks of. I wish I had went taller with less pullback. But, they are comfortable, and sometimes function is more important than form.

The kit was pretty pricey a little over 700 bucks. It came with everything though, including new cam bearings. I also used Screaming Eagle Adjustable push rods so that the rocker covers etc. wouldn't have to come off.
A friend did the installation. He was going to just help, and show me how to do it. I took it to his house. He was off work on vacation and bored, so by the time I got there after work he already had them installed. Lol
I think the gear drive conversion is well worth the money. I can't recommend getting rid of the stock plastic tensioner set up enough to anyone at or approaching 30,000 miles. The inside tensioner shoe on mine was badly worn. I'm at 29,000 miles.
Are they Wild1 bars?
I put Wild 1 Chubby Low Profile Drag Bars, WO560 5" TALL 14.5" PULLBACK 30.5" WIDE bars on my 06 Low Rider and with the forward controls, it makes for a very comfortable ride....for me. But with so many options and products out there, each to his own!
Would a high flow air filter setup gain you any performance?

I dont know how to check all the things that need to be checked on the gear drive conversion though.. I got a lot to learn on the cam chest parts, even when I go to install the hyd conversion.
I just checked my shoes a week ago, but Im only at 11k on mine.. They are a little worn, the rear one being more but nothing to worry about just yet. I just hate haveing that issue in the back of my mind..
That pipe looks great too, btw.. How does it sound?

I know 06 was a modifying year, I wonder if HD corrected some of the issues the 551G fixed? Such as the tension-er and rear cam rotation?
However, here's what the the Dennis Kirk web site has to say about the kit....
Corrects/fixes:
Camshaft gear drive kits increase valve timing accuracy in 06 Dyna Glides and all 07-08 Twin Cam engines by eliminating timing chain lash and loosely fit stock chain drive
Reverses the rear cam's direction of rotation, providing additional operating clearance between cam lobes; as a result, higher cam lifts are possible with the gear drive kit
Kits include cams, inner gears, outer drive gears, inner and outer bearings, gasket and instructions
Cams without any gears can also be purchased separately - 140068
Material must be removed from the inner surface of the stock gear cover to install S&S gear drive cams
A hydraulic press and other professional-level tools are required to install these kits
S&S recommends that adjustable pushrod/cover kit Part No. 14-9988 be used
Cam bearings and gaskets must be replaced when installing new cams

No, they're not Wild 1's. I considered those, but ended up getting these from American Motorcycle Trading. They're an Ebay dealer. They're 8" tall with I believe 8" pullback and were 149.99 with free shipping.
My bike already had the SE hi-flow air filter set up prior to these mods.

I didn't think that was bad either really. Cheaper than going with the new style hyd. tensioner conversation and new cams.
The pipe sounds awesome to me. It has a very distinct sound. The closest I can compare it to sound wise is a Supertrapp 2 into 1.
