I have a dyna 1999 twin cam 1450, what would be the best cams i could put in my bike that wouldn't need any major motor work? I'm want mid to top end power.
I too am interested in a cam upgrade, although more low-end to mid range torque. From what I have gained from the forum, either S&S or Andrews is the way to go. Have you contacted either company to see what they recommend?
You need to check with Andrews and see what they say to use. I went with the 48H cams from them and one of the best changes I have made. The 48H cams make a lot of lowend power. They also keep on making power on up the RPM range. My MPG stayed the same. The other change was the 2 into 1 exhaust.
If you are not going to do any other motor work, you are limited to only a handful of cams. You are limited to .510 lift and your compression is too low for real performance. Definitely not going to find a mid to top end cam. More of low to mid range only.
I talked to Andrews and they suggested the 26 for me,I am still up in the air on which 1 to go with I have heard good thing about the S&S 510 and the Headquarters 34 and SE 204.Do a search and you will find plenty, just wish I could afford a set
He's right! I have the Andrews 26H and they are good all around cams BUT Frogg (a Softail guy) has the 510" and his bike seems to haul the mail and sounds sweet too.
