I feel like I am
too young for a bagger but at 53 I am too old for a
dyna? How about a middle aged Switch back what are
your thoughts
I sure miss my 2000 Dyna WG (sold this past summer) but everytime I saddle upon my RKC that 'miss my dyna' thing goes away real fast.
especially when the green six is lit ! oh, and I'm a tad younger.
I am 61 and I ride a Dyna FXDC (107") My bagger is a '77 FLH, my sport bike is a '90 FXRS-SP and my fun bike is a 54 rigid bobber with early Shovelhead engine, kick start. To old? Nah!
I've tried a 95" RK for a day and spent 3 days trying to like a 120R Road Glide, but they're just too slow (RK) and cumbersome (a 900 pound motorcycle???) compared to my 103 FXDXT...when I have to replace the FXDXT, I'm sure I'll go used Dyna (lots of low mileage garage trophys out there) and drop a 120R in it to get the performance up to snuff...the FLH bikes are well suited to American Freeway travel, but not all-around versatile enough for me...be 60 in 2 1/2 more trips 'round the sun...too old for what??? If there's more than one question, then "Dyna" is the answer...
Geez, I certainly hope there isn't an age limit on Dynas. I'm getting up in years but will never give up my Street Bob! It has been the best scooter I've owned.
Get yourself a Dyna....
And build a Mini Bagger like I did....
Best of both worlds....
Now If I had the funds I would have a hoped up solo Dyna and a Street Glide.
It is a timeless machine.. can't think of a reason why I should change it.
I can add bags if i want to travel (working on a 2*2135 cui saddlebags project attached via easybrackets+ 5500 cui pillion bag so as of carrying capacity I'm in bagger territory). I can use a QD windscreen for long journeys. Now even FLD floorboards are available and there are all sort of seats to make long rides comfortable for any type of a$$. Super easy to upgrade rear shocks if really necessary. Radio/GPS etc it can all be done with HD accessories too. I can make a dyna... a bagger all quick detach so i have the best of both worlds, cargo capacity and comfort when travelling and the look and agility of the dyna.
I do love the looks of the baggers, i wish i could add a Road King and a Ultra to my garage, but more for the looks than the ride.
