Default Street bob & windshield

I purchased a quick Detach windshield from a fellow member here and today was the first time I rode with it.

Honestly, I was not impressed. I did research before going down this route as to how to set it up. I.e. I should be able to look above the screen by a few inches. Well today on my ride, it was doing the infamous buffeting on my full face shield. To the point that it completely took away from the experience of riding.

The constant little pounding on my head gave me a headache. Granted I did not get tired from my arms, back or chest but it was plain annoying. I don't have the part number handy with me but it is the tall windshield from Harley. I am 6'3" so I am wondering if that is the reason. That I need a much taller windshield. But anything taller will look ridiculous.

I was willing to "sacrifice" the look of my bike for pure comfort but I don't think I will be using it too much, if not at all. I will man up, workout and get more upper body strength and ride without my shield. Haha.

I am sure others experienced this before, would anybody share their experiences with me?

Same problem here. I am 6 foot. I have the dyna touring windshield. I lowered it a bit that helped with the buffeting some. I bought a fork bag to place on the forks under the windshield it was a suggestion to stop the buffeting. The buffeting is better but not gone. I am still researching what else to do besides using it as a wall hanging in the garage.

I have no experience with this but am really wanting to hear some input on it. I was thinking about a windshield for my sb and am 6' tall. Everyone I talk to 6' or over says no shield is tall enough to keep from the wind hitten em right in the face.

I wonder if anybody has experience with the product above.

Ouch. Just googled it. It costs $140. That's just a little less of how much I paid for the full windshield.

The problem with the factory shield is wind coming from the bottom, over the tank. I finally gave up and started using the sport shields that Harley sells for the Rocker C. It is smaller but still provides plenty of protection and it is curved so the air that does hit you is smooth and not turbulent. I haven't taken it off since I installed it 2 years ago, it's that good..

This is an option for having a bigger windshield on a Dyna they make the size of windshield you want then you use your hardware to mount it. I have the Dyna touring windshield they said they could not do one for me unless I mailed them my windshield.

I'm 6'3" and I put the small wind deflector shield from National Cycle on my bikes.

It does direct the wind over my head and no buffeting at all. Have one on the XR1200 and the FXSTC. All direct the wind over my head. They are about $150 and I get them from J&P when they have there free shipping and 10% off sales.

Look close and you can see the tinted ones on my FXSTC and the old VTX1800 I used to have.

The windshield does not need to be tall. It just needs to be at the right angle to deflect a stream of air up and over.
I have better luck with the 8" wind splitter on the Ultra than the big ole tall one that came with it.

I only want to keep the wind off of my chest and most of the bugs. The small deflectors do exactly that. I don't like to look through a windshield. Try having a tall windshield in the sunny desert going into the sun and you will never have a tall windshield again.

I thought about the windscreen idea before I bought my batwing. My batwing is a detachable one but with a stereo and wind support with no crazy buffeting it stays on all the time.

What you need is a Clearview replacement with the recurve, give them a call for advice as to which size to get - you wont be disappointed. Here is my thread
