Default Barn Door

A while back I ordered the largest QD sheild from HD and I sort of expected it to have a buffeting issue which it did. Two weeks ago I put it on for one (175mile) excruciating ride If/when it occured I had planned to order a replacement screen from Clearview which arrived last week.

The HD screen is the 18 high version and the top of it was right at eye level sitting on the bike. (I'm 5'9") I spoke with CV and told them I didn't care if I was looking through the thing, didn't ride in the rain and would be taking it off again once the weather warms up so they suggested I get their largest one which I just installed today.

Now this thing is honkin BIG, 5 inches taller at 23" and also 4" wider than the HD version. Its also very well made and even though it is a blem (all they had in stock for the size and colour I wanted) it looks flawless - their QC standards seem very high and its also about twice as thick as the HD one. So I get the thing installed and head out on 40mph, then 50mph........ nothing, hit the interstate and 60mph then 70mph and for the most part still no issues, might be just a tiny, tiny bit of buffeting but I think that may be coming off traffic and there is a little when passing trucks but that's to be expected.

Needless to say this thing blocks A LOT of wind, in fact when accelerating at highway speed it blocks enough to slow the bikes acceleration rate a little but it will get me though the winter months. Couple photos:

Ya, the first photo I took from the saddle you can't even see it, in that second photo the top edge is just above that road sign if you look closely.

That thing is huge. I would have thought you'd have cross wind issues and your mileage will go down. But you will be a lot drier as long as your moving.

Nope, eye level about 6" below the top, you'd have to be about 6'6" to look over that but I only got it for cold weather, no rain.

Why didn't u just buy a geezergide? That monster ruins the whole look of the bike. Glad your enjoying it but there are much smaller windshields that will do the same thing.

I agree it isn't the look I want but if it lets me ride when I otherwise wouldn't then it will be ok. Doesn't look as bad as I thought, in fact better than the HD one it replaced but its only for the colder months and MAYbe the odd longer ride, comes off again in March or April

It's about function and I like it. I wouldn't mind getting one for my WG. The Harley one I have is more trouble than it's worth. I'd rather not use it.
