Well finally painted my exhaust wrap after a summer of burning all the newness off it. They look so good wish I did awhile ago. One thing I would recommend is that once you take it for a spin it will smoke an *** load. Leave it outside for awhile. Smoked up Robbie13's shop and then I went home. lol
Who has painted their exhaust wrap and will it last on the wrap over time?
Why didnt you just by the black exhaust wrap? But now i know if i ever have to paint it that it will smoke though.
The paint is from DEI. It is a silicone spray and will help protect the wrap from water, oils, and road grime. Even if the wrap was black the paint is used as a sealer. The smoke probably will last as long as it did when you first put the wrap on.
I've had my pipes wrapped for about 5 yrs now, and have to paint them every year if I want 'em to stay black. A time or two I didn't really care, and let 'em just fade, but they do look a little better spiffed up.
Also, after 4 yrs, I replaced the wrap. Too many little tears and such, and it was lookin' pretty phony to keep wrapping them in hose clamps!!!
And they smoke like hell (or steam) any time you get 'em wet!!!!!!!
I have some quite bad dirt spots on my wrap. Would the DEI silicone coating spray cover the dirt spots and get my wrap white again?
Or does it only work to protect the wrap if used right after assembly?
