Just wondering how many of you guys kept your stock buckhorns as I am finding mine awkward, also wondering what the best seat is for both drive and passenger
I stuck with the stock bars, I find them comfy. I just rolled them back a little. As for seats I went with a LePera Bare Bones Solo for me and a Corbin Gunfighter & Lady for her.
I have a pics with the LePera. The Corbin just arrived last week (I LOVE EBAY!!! sorry I had to get that in...$140 for a $600 seat) I will get a pic up either later today or tomorrow...
The LePera took some breaking in with the Biker Gel (couple hundred miles). I used it going to Laconia so yeah its comfy. The Corbin seems about as firm, but a much nicer fit for the ****. One of the MOST important issues I thought was the really POOR craftsmanship on the staock seat. The plastic on the underside was rubbing the fender [:@]. I yelled at the stealer as a stand in for the Moco "Why would you put a piece of s%@* like that on your bike?" It felt good to vent. Both the LePera and Corbin are carpeted and have rubber feet .
In addition the passenger portion on the Corbin is level and wider.
I went with mini-apes. Part # 56563-95. They move the grips a little closer to me and a little higher. They are very comfortable on long rides. I had to replace the clutch cable and brake line with the ones that come stock on the wide glide if I remember correctly. Throttle and idle cables did not need to be replaced, just rerouted so they do not pass through the forks.
I just didnt find that the factory buckhorns very comfortable, and were also not very pleasing to the eye as well. I switched mine out to the new HD 07 Dyna CVO bars and gauges and they feel great.
