Default FXDF Exhaust Mod Question

Lots of cars run just straight pipes, post cat (no mufflers). Has anyone tried this on a FatBob or Wideglide? Remove the mufflers, then fit some straight pipe extensions, with turnouts? Might be interesting.

You mean something like this? I do run a baffle though in the pipe. This is a head pipe from a Fat Bob/Wide Glide.

I pulled the baffles and wrap out of mine and tried it that way but it wasn't quite what I wanted so I ended up stripping my stock baffle down to just a straight pipe with holes drilled in the end with no wrap and no restrictor plate and sounds close to a SE setup. If you just want straight pipes on your Fat Bob then just remove the three rivets holding the baffle in on each of the cans then remove all that stuff and you have pretty close to straight pipes. I think it's 09 and newer that have the cat between the cans and the head so even if you run empty cans on a newer one you can still run it with no tuner and very little popping. Just needs a good 50 mile ride for the FI to remap itself with the change in back pressure which is markedly less than it would be with no cat. The route I picked makes it look like there is still a baffle and its not overly loud at idle but gets pretty throaty when I get on the gears. I ride with a guy that has SE's on his Street Bob and mine sounds pretty close just not as tuned sounding. If you want a vid I can make one but I'm sure there are lots of them showing stock cans debaffled or modded baffles. Mine cost the labor I put in to modify the baffle and thats it
