Default Street Bob, No Mufflers?

Hey all, first off great forum and lots of great info.

Alright so I'll cut to the chase, I have a 07 street bob with V&H Big Radius 2 into 1 exhaust, recently punched out the baffle plug to get a little more sound out of her, while she sounds pretty sweet I got curious.....

1. What would be the result of cutting the pipe off about an inch AFTER the 2 pipes come into 1, then having a local welding shop weld on just a straight pipe the same diameter? I figure about the same length as the existing pipe and then just heat wrapping.

2. I also pondered on cutting off the pipe about an inch after they come into 1 and running it like that but wasn;t to sure if I'd run into any issues? (refrain from flaming me)

3. This just came to me, I just NOW pondered on cutting the exsisting pipe about 8 inched shorter which would leave half the baffle in and removing that and running it like that? Would be like option one minus having to buy a pipe to weld on, and would just result in a short straight pipe.

Thanks for all opinions fellas and gals.

Dave

Might work but you are going to all but eliminate back pressure which you need for your bike to run right. And you are gonna get a head ache when you ride the thing as well as say "here I am" to the LEO's. Glad you don't live in my neighborhood. Loud pipes are one thing but straight pipes are something else.

if you're gonna go the straight pipes route you're gonna need some back pressure.

lollipops are your cheapest option.

bct baffles are the same thing but quality made.

you're also gonna have to get any popping and backfiring tuned out.

Jesus Christ, Number 1. Unless you know ME don't make assumptions, that's why people like YOU end up in sketchy situations voicing your opinion a little too loud about someones character before you even know them.

Number 2. Where at all in my post did I say anything about wanting to be the loudest bike like MOST of the posts on here contain when wanting louder pipes? I merely said I was trying to get a little more sound and just got CURIOUS so I asked, plain and simple.

Last but not least, in my area...loud bikes are not even an issue, theres more loud *** red necks in their gigantic trucks romping around and don't forget the "cool guys" that are a dime a dozen running around in their daddy's mustang with superchargers and h-pipes, I don't ride a Harley to keep quiet and keep people happy. It's not how loud your bike is, it's how you ride it. None the less thanks for your 2 cents there chief

Hey thanks for the reply toast, that's the primary issues I figured I'd run into.

You said you wanted to get a little more sound out of the pipes, but not be the loudest. Any of the options you asked about will make make the bike about as loud as it can get. And by eliminating the baffles you will be losing some back pressure and low end power.
Toastman had a good idea with the BCT baffles. I had the BCT QQ's on my V&H slipons and they were still pretty loud, but with a real deep rumble. You might be happier with an overall deeper sound than just more volume. Then again, everyone's definition of loud is personal, so you kind of have to experiment until you find what you want.

Before you cut up your Big Radius 2:1 I would sell them and then buy another set of pipes. You could get shorts or smonething like that.
